Town of Princeton, Mass. – June 25, 2018
Executive Session Minutes  -  SELECT BOARD

Executive Session 9:36 PM – In open meeting, board voted to go into Executive Session Selectboard members Edith M., Karen C. and Richy B. with T.A. Nina N, only to adjourn.

Executive Session

Exemption Three - To discuss strategy with respect to litigation if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the litigating position of the public body and the chair so declares:

Nina explained the settlement offer that Trident is prepared to provide Ms. Sandi Calcia, regarding the Tort Claim pursuant to M.G.L. c. 258, §4. The settlement offer is $30,000 paid by the insurance company. The insurance policy does not contain a consent clause, but the towns insurance company, Trident Public Risk Solutions, would like to ensure that the town is agreeable to the settlement. Nina reported that according to the towns insurance broker, the town is not expecting to see any material changes in premium costs, considering low claim experience, however that will be determined for certain in the future.

Exemption Two - To conduct strategy sessions in preparation for negotiations with nonunion personnel or to conduct collective bargaining sessions or contract negotiations with nonunion personnel – Classification & Compensation Study

Based on letters received by employees and departments, Nina presented a methodology to consider employee years served, as it related to the range of their respective grade on the Classification plan. All employees were taken into consideration whether or not they filed a request for review. After significant discussion, the Selectboard concluded that there should be wage adjustments to Library employees, the Town Clerk’s wages, and the re-classification of the Assessor to the same grade as the Treasurer/Collector and Accountant.

ACTION: Board voted to offer the Library up to $6,500 of the FY19 wage/salary reserve voted as part of the operating budget, increase the Town Clerk’s hourly wage to $25.60 per hour effective July 1, 2018, and reclassify the Assessor to Grade I.

10:08 PM Selectmen closed the executive session with Edith making a motion to adjourn, Richy seconded and in roll call vote they adjourned with Edith, Karen and Richy each saying “aye.”
